Lingerie Is No Longer For Women

Posted by Mona-Elisa on September 27, 2009

Dwight Eubanks, graced New York with an evening of sultry style and fabulosity during his presentation of “The Toolbox Collection” last week. Dwight can be seen on Bravo these days on the reality series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta“, but his name and fame go beyond the T.V.  screen as he is a notable icon in the realm of styling, and consulting. The Atlanta, Georgia native joined in on the New York Fashion Week festivities by unveiling his line of sexy lingerie and underwear.

The presentation took place at M2 Ultra Lounge on 28th street between 10th and 11th. Dwight definitely filled up the venue as VIPs were seated around the t-shaped runway.

Jade, from America’s Next Top Model was spotted in the crowd. She walked in with a shimmering silver sequins hooded dressed which I loved. I am working on finding out who designed her dressed if I could possibly afford one.

Dwight’s line is very sexy. It consists of light weight material and sheer pieces of underwear. He was very creative in designing lingerie for men which offers an alternative to the conventional boxers and briefs selection.

Fashion’s Night Out Sparks Fashion Fever

Posted by Mona-Elisa on September 12, 2009

3a98cefdce618d21_fashion-night-outVogue collaborated with retailers all over the world in a “global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion”.

The Fashion’s Night Out initiative, tripled the number of parties taking place this year. Over 700 retailers hosted in-store parties to invite consumers in and celebrate the start of the week long celebration of all things fashion.

Last night, I found myself in pure fashion heaven as I walked down 5th avenue and fashion hopped from store to store. It was seriously like treat-or-treating for fashion goodies.

The Dior store on 57th street was a site of pure chaos as photogs, fans, and guest stretched their necks and bodies to get inside the store and get an in person glimpse of Charlize Theron. It was only appropriate that the blonde cause so much excitement this Fashion Week…I mean, she is only on the cover of Vogue Magazine.

I had the most fun at Versace. There I ran into Ciara, Jade from America’s next top model, and other beautiful people. I didn’t realized how thin Ciara has gotten until seeing her in person. The last time I saw her was about 2 years ago while working a VH1 red carpet. In my opinion she is looking her best these days. Much more classy and grown up in comparison to her more sporty look when she first hit the scene.

I am a huge fan of the Fashion’s Night Out initiative. I can definitely see this being an annual event. It invited the everyday person to take part in the fashion week festivities. Fashion is all about the consumer and I am happy to see that Vogue is encouraging retailers to refocus their attention to those that will keep their businesses afloat.

Keri Hilson Steals The Show at BET’s Rip The Runway

Posted by Mona-Elisa on March 3, 2009

BET‘s annual fashion show aired tonight as the creative work of African American designers graced the stage of the Hammerstein Ballroom stage. Joy Bryant and Derek Luke hosted the show…i don’t think I’ve ever seen Joy on BET before tonight but hey, she did a great job and she always looks fab (thanks to her stylist Rachel Zoe).

The show, which was taped last week, opened with TI and his clothing line, AKOO followed by Project Runway’s Korto demonstrating her line, Korto Momolu. The Dream performed with a little help from Fabolous as Korto’s flowy and chic pieces were displayed.

Douglas Says’s plus size models did there thing to the sounds of “I’m So Special”. The clothing was really bright and patterned. The highlight of his collection was the finale piece, a gold bathing suit which was worn very well by yes, a plus size model. Loved it!

Designer Bryan Lars presented his line to the sounds of Bobby Valentino. After which followed the athletic line, Protege, which presented fashionably casual and sporty pieces. A few professional athletes worked the runway and so did Toccara, who came out wearing basketball shorts, a tank top, and heels.

Swimwear, swimwear, swimwear!!! Models sporting Johnny Vincent Swimwear by Celeste Vincent, ripped the runway to the sounds of Ron Brownz. Busta Rhymes and his hype man scratch took over the stage with their club banger “Arab Money“, but Keri Hilson stole the show as she danced away while model’s displayed recession friendly outfits.

Overall it was a great show. The focus was placed on the clothing pieces and the models did a great job displaying the designer’s work.

Five Years Of Fashion With Indashio and The Fashion Reporter

Posted by Mona-Elisa on February 24, 2009

INDASHIO, better known for being on VH1′s “Glam God”, celebrated 5 years in fashion Friday night at The Dream Hotel.

Just five short years ago at the tender age of 19, INDASHIO stormed the gates of New York Fashion Week with nothing but an insatiable passion for fashion and a penchant for sketching outrageously bare-all, glamour-puss, ultra-femme designs. A minute later he showed his first collection at New York Fashion Week and he was on his way! Ten fashion seasons later, with standing room only shows at Versace Mansion, Commerce Bank New York Fashion Week, Los Angeles, Hawaii and Jamaica fashion events, features on MTV’s 8th and Ocean, Made, and the famously “disappeared” evening gown. INDASHIO says “Thank You!”

The designer, along with THE FASHION REPORTER, a virtual online magazine for all things fashion, hosted an appreciation party and fashion soiree for New York Fashion Week, celebrating his FIVE YEARS IN FASHION while promoting a fashionably fit message on wearing the clothes and not letting the clothes wear you along with strategic partners including American Heart Association, Pom Wonderful and Equinox Fitness.

The pre-show at The Samsung Experience inside the Time Warner Center Building, featured some of INDASHIO’s most infamous designs throughout the seasons, as well as a tribute to his “IT” girls who include Vanessa Carlton, Nicky Hilton, Theodora Richards, Kim Kardashian, and Vivica A. Fox.

Michelle Scott Presents Fall 2009 Collection “Wonderland” at The Museum Of Sex

sex-museum1This past Thursday, New York Fashion Week introduced emerging designer, Michelle Scott and her Fall 2009 collection Wonderland. Michelle Scott aka DJ ChelleBomb introduced her first dance wear  meets nightlife collection at the most appropriate place for the clothing-line, the Museum of Sex.

Michelle’s collection was definitely SEXY and eye catching. Being away from the usual Bryant Park tents allowed for creativity as the models displayed Scott’s fashions by walking through the second floor rooms – cutting through the mingling crowd and all. The show was conducted in what was to me an unexpected manner, but all the men in the room were very atoned to the models and their ensembles.

The Museum of Sex, which I have been wanting to visit for some time now, is a very interesting place. The first floor covers the sex life of animals and the  second floor covers topics  and historical points of the human sex life.

The Wonderland after party took event guests uptown to the Empire Hotel Rooftop. Although it was a bitterly cold night, there was a good show of party people. From the Wonderland party we headed to the M2 Lounge (formerly known as Mansion) to continue the Fashion Week festivities.
