Fashion’s Night Out Sparks Fashion Fever

Vogue collaborated with retailers all over the world in a “global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion”.

The Fashion’s Night Out initiative, tripled the number of parties taking place this year. Over 700 retailers hosted in-store parties to invite consumers in and celebrate the start of the week long celebration of all things fashion.

Last night, I found myself in pure fashion heaven as I walked down 5th avenue and fashion hopped from store to store. It was seriously like treat-or-treating for fashion goodies.

The Dior store on 57th street was a site of pure chaos as photogs, fans, and guest stretched their necks and bodies to get inside the store and get an in person glimpse of Charlize Theron. It was only appropriate that the blonde cause so much excitement this Fashion Week…I mean, she is only on the cover of Vogue Magazine.

I had the most fun at Versace. There I ran into Ciara, Jade from America’s next top model, and other beautiful people. I didn’t realized how thin Ciara has gotten until seeing her in person. The last time I saw her was about 2 years ago while working a VH1 red carpet. In my opinion she is looking her best these days. Much more classy and grown up in comparison to her more sporty look when she first hit the scene.

I am a huge fan of the Fashion’s Night Out initiative. I can definitely see this being an annual event. It invited the everyday person to take part in the fashion week festivities. Fashion is all about the consumer and I am happy to see that Vogue is encouraging retailers to refocus their attention to those that will keep their businesses afloat.

The Harlem Winery Presents Tony White from Metropolis Imports

This Friday Metropolis Wine Merchants will pour some wines from France at The Winery, located on 2166 Fredrick Douglas Blvd between West 116th and 117th Street. Metropolis Wine Merchant is a family-owned, boutique importer of fine wine, and Tony White who has been in the wine business for over 15 years, will be at The Winery sharing his knowledge of wine this Friday. There you can taste his supply of wine as well as buy a bottle…or two, since The Winery is now carrying his products. Oh, and did I mention that the bottles are pretty recession friendly…

Five Years Of Fashion With Indashio and The Fashion Reporter

INDASHIO, better known for being on VH1′s “Glam God”, celebrated 5 years in fashion Friday night at The Dream Hotel.

Just five short years ago at the tender age of 19, INDASHIO stormed the gates of New York Fashion Week with nothing but an insatiable passion for fashion and a penchant for sketching outrageously bare-all, glamour-puss, ultra-femme designs. A minute later he showed his first collection at New York Fashion Week and he was on his way! Ten fashion seasons later, with standing room only shows at Versace Mansion, Commerce Bank New York Fashion Week, Los Angeles, Hawaii and Jamaica fashion events, features on MTV’s 8th and Ocean, Made, and the famously “disappeared” evening gown. INDASHIO says “Thank You!”

The designer, along with THE FASHION REPORTER, a virtual online magazine for all things fashion, hosted an appreciation party and fashion soiree for New York Fashion Week, celebrating his FIVE YEARS IN FASHION while promoting a fashionably fit message on wearing the clothes and not letting the clothes wear you along with strategic partners including American Heart Association, Pom Wonderful and Equinox Fitness.

The pre-show at The Samsung Experience inside the Time Warner Center Building, featured some of INDASHIO’s most infamous designs throughout the seasons, as well as a tribute to his “IT” girls who include Vanessa Carlton, Nicky Hilton, Theodora Richards, Kim Kardashian, and Vivica A. Fox.

Who Knew Keyshawn Johnson Was a Huge Fan of Salvatore Ferragamo

NFL Player, Keyshawn Johnson, hosted an exclusive Monday Night Football Party at the Salvatore Ferragamo flagship store located on 5th avenue. The event consisted of 250 industry individuals, which mingled with Keyshawn’s friends and Ferragamo fans as the Philadelphia Eagles took a win over the Cleveland Browns. The man of the hour arrived fashionably late, but like a great host, he walked around and greeted all guest as well as thanked them for attending.

Although it was raining outside, the event had a good showing of beautiful New Yorkers. People were looking good and making connections over glasses of free drinks. Two bars were strategically placed on the 2nd floor of the flagship as the alcohol flowed all night. A few ladies were spotted shopping downstairs as the cash registers were left open throughout the event. A highlight of the evening was the Ferragamo gift certificates which were given out after each quarter to lucky scoreboard winners. I unfortunately didn’t win anything although I had my eyes on the final prize which was a $1,000 gift certificate. I had it ALL planned out in my head….I was going to win  the final prize and buy a patent leather bag I scouted out when I first walked in….unfortunately for me, things didn’t work out that way. Oh well! Maybe next year!

Before the end of the football party, Keyshawn gave a few remarks where he acknowledged his love for the Ferragamo brand. He mentioned that as one of his favorite brands, it was only fitting to host an in-store event.  How loyal of the guy wont you say?!?

GQ hosts Ray-Ban Shades of Style at Bloomingdales

So, Ray Ban has a new set of cool sunglasses which come in various new shades. Last week they held a mixer at the Bloomingdales in SOHO where the new shades were displayed and made available for trying on… I of course went straight for the pink shades .

According to reps at Ray-Ban, the wayfarer is known to be one of the most enduring and iconic styles of the 20th century. They are not only the best selling sunglasses in world, but they also blend hi-tech design, lenses, and materials in innovatiove, fun, and now colorful styles!!

PUMA 60th Anniversary Birthday Bash

I stopped by the Puma 60th anniversary event which took place at their Soho location. When I arrived there was a long line, but thanks to being well networked I saw a few buddies of mine right in front and yes, I skipped the line…woo hoo!!

Once inside, I was greeted by friendly Puma employees in the front of the store as well as in the coat check area. I headed downstairs to find the open bar, people mingling and the DJ spinning. Danity Kane’s Dawn Richard and Day 26 seem to be making appearances at every New York event this month because I keep running into them…they were in the building as well. What I have noticed though is that no one else from Danity Kane seems to like going out as much as Dawn…either that or everyone else is out of town????
